Serrapeptase is a proteolytic enzyme originally isolated from silkworm intestinal bacteria (Serratia) — now produced via fermentation. Used widely in Japan and Europe (prescription drug status in some countries) for inflammation, sinusitis, fibrocystic breast disease, post-surgical edema, and pain.
