Benefits
Skin elasticity improvement
Randomized trials show significant improvements in skin elasticity over 8 weeks of VERISOL® supplementation at 2.5 g/day in women aged 35-65. Effects persist beyond the supplementation period to some degree.
Eye-wrinkle volume reduction
Measurable reductions in eye-wrinkle volume after 8 weeks of supplementation at 2.5 g/day. Effects are modest but visible on standardized imaging measurements.
Dermal collagen density increase
VERISOL® supplementation increases dermal collagen density on ultrasound measurements. Mechanism involves fibroblast activation rather than dietary collagen being directly incorporated into skin tissue.
Nail brittleness reduction
In women with brittle nails, supplementation improved nail growth and reduced breakage. Demonstrates effects beyond skin — relevant for those with both skin aging and nail health concerns.
Cellulite appearance reduction
In women with moderate cellulite, supplementation improved skin smoothness and dermal density over months of use. Effects are modest; not a substitute for body composition changes.
Bioactive peptide signaling mechanism
VERISOL® uses specific peptide molecular weights identified through screening to optimize fibroblast stimulation. Mechanism is signaling-based, not direct collagen incorporation — explains why amino acid profile alone doesn't predict efficacy.
Combined skin support with vitamin C
Taken alongside adequate vitamin C intake, the collagen peptide effects may be enhanced through vitamin C's role in endogenous collagen synthesis (proline and lysine hydroxylation). Combination is mechanistically sensible.
Mechanism of action
Di/tripeptide absorption with intact bioactivity
VERISOL® peptides are absorbed AS DI/tripeptides (not just amino acids) — retain bioactivity and reach bloodstream. Specific molecular weight profile optimized for absorption + dermal targeting. Distinguishes from generic collagen supplements where most material is broken to amino acids.
Fibroblast stimulation in dermis
Absorbed peptides reach dermis where they stimulate fibroblasts to synthesize: type I collagen, elastin, proteoglycans. Mechanism for measurable dermal matrix improvements vs degeneration with aging.
MMP inhibition (matrix metalloproteinase)
Inhibits MMPs that degrade collagen — protects existing matrix from breakdown. Combined with stimulating new matrix synthesis, provides dual protective + restorative mechanism.
TGF-β1/Smad pathway activation
Activates transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1) and Smad signaling — mechanism for dermal matrix synthesis. Key fibrotic/regenerative pathway.
Hyaluronic acid synthesis regulation
Peptides regulate hyaluronic acid synthesis in dermis — contributes to skin hydration improvements observed in 2025 trial.
Anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects
Specific peptides show anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activity beyond pure structural effects. Mechanism complementary to dermal matrix support.
Patented peptide profile (Gelita Bioactive Collagen Peptides®)
Gelita's patented Bioactive Collagen Peptides® technology optimizes peptide molecular weight distribution for dermal targeting vs generic collagen hydrolysates. Manufacturing process control distinguishes VERISOL® from commodity collagen products.
Clinical trials
Randomized double-blind placebo-controlled trial (Proksch E, Schunck M, Zague V, Segger D, Degwert J, Skin Pharmacol Physiol 27(3):113-119, doi:10.1159/000355523).
114 female participants aged 45-65 at Department of Dermatology, University Hospital of Schleswig-Holstein, Campus Kiel (Germany). VERISOL® 2.5 g/day vs placebo for 8 weeks.
~20% reduction in periorbital wrinkle volume after 4 and 8 weeks. 65% increase in procollagen type I. 18% increase in elastin levels. Both key components of skin structure significantly increased. Foundational pivotal clinical trial supporting VERISOL® wrinkle/dermal matrix claims.
Randomized double-blind placebo-controlled dose-finding trial (Proksch E, Segger D, Degwert J, Schunck M, Zague V).
69 women aged 35-55. Three arms: 2.5 g VERISOL®, 5.0 g VERISOL®, or placebo daily for 8 weeks. 23 subjects per group.
Skin elasticity (primary endpoint) improved in both collagen hydrolysate groups vs placebo at 4 and 8 weeks. NO statistically significant difference between 2.5 g and 5.0 g doses — established 2.5 g as effective standard dose. 4-week post-treatment follow-up showed sustained effects in elderly subgroup. Skin moisture, transepidermal water loss, skin roughness also assessed.
Recent randomized double-blind placebo-controlled trial (Proksch E, Zdzieblik D, Cosmetics 12(2):79, doi:10.3390/cosmetics12020079).
66 women aged 35-55. VERISOL B 2.5 g/day vs maltodextrin placebo for 8 weeks. Modern measurement methods: Primos Compact optical 3D for wrinkle volume, Cutometer MPA 580 for elasticity, Corneometer CM 825 for hydration.
Eye wrinkle volume significant reduction at 4 and 8 weeks. Skin elasticity statistically significant improvement at 4 and 8 weeks. Skin hydration significant improvement. Stimulation of type I collagen + elastin + proteoglycan biosynthesis. Confirms pivotal 2014 results with modern measurement methods. Industry-sponsored (Gelita) but methodologically rigorous.
